[Financial News] A video of a bride and groom chanting slogans criticizing President Lee Jae-myung and marching in support of former President Yoon Suk Yeol at their wedding is spreading on social media (SNS). Opinions online were divided over it.
A video titled “The Only Wedding in the World,” posted on the social media platform Threads on the 9th, showed scenes from a ceremony held that day at a wedding hall in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
In the video, the groom held a microphone and continued making remarks criticizing President Lee. Members of a conservative-leaning group beat drums and chanted along. Guests also applauded and cheered.
Political slogans continued as the bride and groom left after the ceremony. Amid cries of “Yoon Again will triumph,” the groom walked alongside the bride, raising a clenched fist high. Some guests unfurled towels printed with “YOON AGAIN,” and a banner calling for President Lee to stand trial had also been put up inside the wedding hall.
The bride and groom reportedly first met at a conservative-leaning rally and began dating afterward. The groom is said to lead a youth group that supports former President Yoon.
The video was also shared on other social media accounts, and debate continued over the couple’s chanting of political slogans during the ceremony. A Facebook post also described the wedding scene as “a wedding of madness.”
Some internet users took issue with political slogans criticizing a particular politician being chanted at a celebration of marriage. They said the ceremony, which should have centered on the bride and groom, was conducted like a political rally, and that criticism of President Lee drew more attention than the couple themselves.
Others congratulated the bride and groom on their marriage and supported their political expression. Posts on Threads called them “patriots,” and several congratulatory messages were also posted, including: “I sincerely congratulate you both on your marriage. May you cherish and love each other as much as you love your country.”
