[Financial News] The 33rd Busan Jagalchi Festival, South Korea’s leading seafood festival famous for its “Come, See, Buy” slogan, will be held from the 15th to the 18th at Jagalchi Market and around Yurari Square.
According to Busan’s Jung-gu District on the 11th, this year’s festival will feature a variety of programs, including the Jagalchi Dragon Deity Rite, a traditional street parade, an eel relay race, “Find the Golden Fish,” free seafood tastings, and an event to make the world’s largest raw-fish bibimbap.
The festival’s opening ceremony at 7 p.m. on the 15th will feature a spectacular fireworks display over Namhang Harbor. Popular singers, including Song Ga-in, winner of Miss Trot, Son Min-chae and Baek Su-jeong, will give congratulatory performances.
This year, the traditional street parade, revived as part of the Jagalchi Festival, is being expanded along a route that starts at the Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum, passes through City Spot and Gwangbok-ro Fountain Plaza, and ends at the festival’s main stage, so that all of Busan’s Jung-gu District can enjoy the festive atmosphere. A Jagalchi dried-seafood food zone, a festival within the festival, will also provide a space for Gen MZ visitors and families.
Interpretation and information booths for foreign tourists will also be set up so they can take part in the festival without language barriers.
Choi Jin-bong, head of Busan’s Jung-gu District, said, "I will actively support this festival, held at Jagalchi Market, one of our country’s leading attractions and a place brimming with life, so that it can grow beyond South Korea’s leading seafood festival into a global event."
