[Financial News] ‘Bukangi,’ the black shark staying at Busan’s North Port, became the main attraction at a popular outing spot in Busan over the Hangeul Day holiday. On the second day of the holiday, the 10th, citizens flocked to North Port Waterfront Park from the morning to see Bukangi under clear skies.
Citizens lined the artificial waterway at North Port Waterfront Park in Dong-gu, capturing Bukangi on their phones whenever it swam with its fin showing or swished its tail.
Today marked the 23rd day since Bukangi appeared at North Port. Concerns about its health have recently been raised, but it was reportedly seen swimming back and forth through the waterway today. The reason Bukangi has not left North Port remains unclear.
Since Bukangi first appeared on the 18th of last month, the cumulative number of visitors to North Port Waterfront Park had surpassed 1.2 million as of the 9th. Earlier, after Bukangi was startled and injured by the bright lights used by nighttime visitors, a volunteer citizen patrol group was formed and is now active.
Urban parks were also bustling with people out for the holiday. Citizens settled in at Busan Citizens Park and APEC Naru Park, spreading out picnic mats to enjoy the day off. At Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches, some people were also seen going into the water to cool off from the midday heat.
Moviegoers also flocked to the Busan Cinema Center, where the 31st Busan International Film Festival is being held, and to theaters around Centum City, adding to the holiday atmosphere.
