“Fearing it could spread to the mountains”... Forestry authorities join all-out response to warehouse fire at Chuncheon waste-processing company

On the 10th, Chuncheon Fire Station said it received a report at around 9:29 a.m. that a fire had broken out at a waste-processing company warehouse in Hyeoldong-ri, Sindong-myeon. Fire authorities responded as soon as they received the report and, six minutes later, at 9:35 a.m., requested a joint response from the Forest Fire Prevention Center and the Korea Forest Service in case the flames spread to nearby mountains.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 9:40 a.m. and immediately began extinguishing the fire. At around 10:10 a.m., they managed to prevent it from spreading to the forest. A minute later, at 10:11 a.m., they brought the main blaze under control, and at 10:55 a.m. extinguished the fire completely in the building where it had started. A total of 52 personnel and 20 pieces of equipment were deployed.

Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact extent of the property damage and the cause of the fire.
