[Financial News] Musical actors Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho released a special new song to mark Hangeul Day.
Palm Tree Island said on the 9th that the married couple Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho had released “Wi (We)daehan Arirang,” a new crossover song that reimagines the folk song “Arirang” with a modern sensibility and sound. It was released at noon that day.
The song likens “Arirang” to a “wave.” Just as a stream that begins at a small spring forms a river and eventually flows toward a vast sea, the song paints a picture of “Arirang,” passed down through generations, reaching out powerfully into a wider world.
The lyrics, composition and arrangement were handled by composing duo Algoboni Honsu Sangtae (Kim Kyung-beom and Kim Ji-hwan). The pair teamed up with the duo again after their 2023 release, “Together.”
The new song combines the pair’s strong vocals with lush strings, a grand chorus and the resonant sounds of a variety of traditional Korean instruments, bringing the depth and scale characteristic of crossover music to life. Accomplished session musicians also contributed, including drummer Shin Seok-cheol, bassist Shin Hyeon-gwon, guitarist Lee Seong-ryeol, chorus vocalists Kim Hyeon-a and Won Hyeon-jeong, Yung String, and Arts Forest, which handled the traditional instrument performances, elevating the song’s overall quality.
