[Financial News]  The webtoon The Remarried Empress, which is scheduled to be released as a drama on Disney+ in the second half of this year, will also be adapted into an animated series.
On the 8th (local time), gaming and animation outlet The Outer Haven reported that LINE Digital Frontier Corporation (LDF), the Japanese subsidiary of Webtoon Entertainment Inc., parent company of WEBTOON, had signed a partnership with animation studio Hayate and global anime streaming platform Crunchyroll to jointly produce animated adaptations of webtoons.
Under the partnership, the three companies plan to work together from the development stage to adapt approximately 15 selected titles into animation. Hayate will lead development and production, while Crunchyroll will stream the completed works exclusively in certain regions.
The partnership was announced at the Crunchyroll Showcase at New York Comic Con. The event also featured news that The Remarried Empress and The Boxer would be adapted into anime, as well as new footage and images from three titles, including Teenage Mercenary.
