【Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop】Travelers visiting Chuncheon’s Sille Village can use a single coupon book to save up to 10,000 won on workshop experiences, including ceramics, leatherwork and woodworking, from the 9th through the 25th of this month.
According to Chuncheon City on the 8th, the city and the Korea Tourism Organization will hold the 2026 Chuncheon Sille Village Travel Festa from the 9th to the 25th around the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Village. Centered on the literary village, the former Kim Yu-jeong Station and the Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike, Sille Village has workshops offering ceramics, leatherwork, beadwork, woodworking and fragrance-making experiences, all within a 20-minute walk. Visitors can enjoy the literature and scenery, then drop by a nearby workshop to make something themselves with their families.
During the festival, coupon books will be available at the tourist information center inside a train at the former Kim Yu-jeong Station. The books list discounts and terms of use at 11 participating venues, including tourism attractions, craft-experience sites and cultural-performance venues. Visitors who plan an itinerary around their interests can get discounts of 5,000 to 10,000 won at each venue. Operating days, discount amounts and advance-reservation requirements vary by venue, so visitors should check before going. The tourist information center is closed on Mondays, but visitors who pick up a coupon book in advance can still enjoy the discounts at venues that are open as usual on Mondays.

Guided tours of Sille Village, featuring stories about the area as visitors walk, will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each tour takes about 40 minutes, though the duration may be adjusted depending on conditions on site. Applications are accepted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break from noon to 1 p.m.
The festival is part of a project to develop small-scale, high-potential tourist destinations. The city and the Korea Tourism Organization have previously produced tourism leaflets, updated information signs at Kim Yu-jeong Station and along the Story Path, and organized university-linked field trips and press familiarization tours. This time, the focus is on turning the village’s previously promoted attractions into actual visits and local spending. The organizers will promote the village in connection with Travel Month and the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Festival, and attract independent and family travelers through influencer coverage and social media (SNS) content. After the festival, they plan to analyze coupon-use figures and visitor patterns and use the findings to develop tourism products.
A Chuncheon City official said, “Many visitors were leaving without realizing that the ceramics and woodworking workshops are just a 20-minute walk from the literary village and the rail bike.” The official added, “We want to see more family travelers exploring every corner of the village with coupon books in hand, and will carefully analyze this event’s coupon-use records and visitor routes to develop tourism products unique to Sille Village.”
