【Jakarta, Indonesia—Correspondent Aulia Maulida Hamdani】Genesis, Hyundai Motor’s premium brand, will officially enter Indonesia early next year. Preparations, including opening a dedicated local showroom and readying models for sale, are now in their final stages.
Local media reported on the 8th that Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, chief operating officer (COO) of Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), said at the graduation ceremony for “Hyundai Jump School Batch 3,” held on the 7th, “We plan to introduce the Genesis brand in Indonesia early next year and open a dedicated showroom at the same time.”
Alongside existing key models such as the G80, GV70 and GV80, Genesis plans to introduce a new model targeting the Indonesian market. COO Fransiscus said, “We are preparing new models in addition to the G80, GV70 and GV80,” and explained, “Preparations to establish Genesis’s local business base and dealer infrastructure are in their final stages.”
Genesis has been expanding its brand presence in the local market ahead of its official launch. At the 2022 G20 summit in Bali, 131 G80 Electrified vehicles were used for VIP transport. Early this year, Genesis launched its official Indonesia website and introduced the G80, GV70 and GV80. It has also been holding VIP sales consultations for local customers since last February.
Sales figures are already being tallied. According to the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), Genesis began wholesale sales in June 2025 and sold a total of 16 vehicles that year: 15 G80 Electrifieds and one gasoline-powered G80. Through June this year, 12 G80 Electrifieds had been sold, and all Genesis vehicles sold in Indonesia are imported from South Korea.
