[Financial News] Two approved elementary textbooks developed by Dong-A Publishing have received final approval from the Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education and will be used in elementary school classes starting next year. The approved materials are “Picture Books That Grow Visual Literacy” and “A Health Journey with Career Exploration,” and are scheduled to be introduced in classrooms at the start of the 2027 school year in March.
According to Dong-A Publishing on the 8th, the two materials completed registration in the National Education Information System (NEIS) on the 7th, allowing schools to begin placing orders. They will be used to establish and run courses linked to “school autonomous time,” newly introduced under the 2022 revised curriculum.
“Picture Books That Grow Visual Literacy” uses illustrations and images to develop elementary students’ powers of expression and literacy. It includes tear-out activity sheets and stickers that can be peeled off and used right away, making it easy to conduct lessons without printing additional materials.
“A Health Journey with Career Exploration” is a textbook for fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school students. It combines health knowledge with career exploration to help students build healthy habits and plan for the future.
Dong-A Publishing plans to provide tailored learning materials, including lesson videos and edtech resources, through its teacher-only platform, “DooClass.”
A Dong-A Publishing representative said, “A distinguishing feature of these two approved textbooks is that they reflect both the 2022 revised curriculum and the educational needs of schools, while also providing a variety of teaching and learning support materials for convenient use in actual classes.” The representative added, “Going forward, we will continue to actively reflect voices from the field and develop textbooks and educational content that help teachers prepare lessons and expand students’ opportunities to learn and express themselves.”
