[Financial News] Shinhan Securities will unveil a brand campaign video highlighting the history and versatility of Hangul to mark the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day.
Ahead of Hangul Day, Shinhan Securities released its brand campaign video, 'Hangul, Capturing the World,' on the 8th through its official YouTube channel, AlphaTV.
This year marks 580 years since Hunminjeongeum was promulgated in 1446, as well as the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Hangul Day, which began in 1926 as 'Kagyanal.' Shinhan Securities has captured in the video the significance of these two anniversaries coinciding, and the roles Hangul has played over time.
The video opens with everyday examples of how subtle emotions and nuances can differ depending on how something is expressed, even when it means the same thing, as with 'ne,' 'nep' and 'neng.' It then uses historical examples, including letters written in Hangul and codes used by independence activists, to show how Hangul has recorded and conveyed emotions, knowledge and culture.
In particular, the video offers an accessible look at Hangul's distinctive structural features by showing viewers how to solve codes that independence activists created by rearranging consonants and vowels.
The video also explores how Hangul has changed alongside technological advances. It shows how Hangul has adapted and expanded to fit new technological environments as input methods evolved from typewriters to computers and mobile phones. The message is that Hangul's value lies not only in its long history but also in its capacity to adapt to the changing times.
Kim Su-yeong, head of public relations at Shinhan Securities, said, "At a time when K-culture is receiving global attention on a par with the globalization of financial markets, this content takes a fresh look at the stories contained in the Hangul we use every day." Kim added, "As we mark the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day, I hope customers will enjoy exploring Hangul's history and possibilities."
Alongside the video's release, Shinhan Securities is also holding a community event through the 14th called the 'Investment Language Mock Exam,' which explains investment terminology. The company plans to award Mega Coffee mobile coupons to participants selected in a random drawing based on comments.
