[Financial News] The memory-chip boom is now showing up in earnings. On the 8th, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced preliminary consolidated operating profit of 107.4 trillion won for the third quarter. Investors are now turning their attention to whether this momentum will continue next year and which companies to watch amid the trend. SK Securities is setting up an event to address those questions. According to securities industry sources on the 8th, SK Securities will hold a seminar titled “The 2027 Investment Map: How AI Is Changing It” for investors on the 20th at Leaders Hall at the Financial Investment Education Institute in Yeouido, Seoul.
The seminar is a customer invitation event held to mark SK Securities’ role in arranging SK hynix’s share buyback. It will examine the industry trends being rapidly reshaped by artificial intelligence (AI), with a particular focus on investment opportunities in 2027 and semiconductor investment strategies.
The speakers will be Lee Hyo-seok, head of HS Academy, and Choi Do-yeon, head of SK Securities’ Research Center. Lee will speak on “Economic Moats in the AI Era,” outlining the qualities of companies to watch in the AI era and new investment opportunities. Choi will then discuss changes in the semiconductor industry driven by the spread of AI and shifts in the investment paradigm in a talk titled “Semiconductor Investment Strategies in the AI Era.”
The seminar will also feature promotions for new customers and asset growth. Customers who meet certain requirements will receive cash rewards based on their net deposits. Attendees can also enter a prize drawing for SK hynix shares, SK gift certificates, wine and other prizes.
The seminar will run from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any customer interested in investing can register through the website or mobile trading system (MTS). Attendance is limited to the first 150 people.
An SK Securities representative said, “We organized this seminar to give attendees an opportunity to examine in one place the industry changes AI will bring and the trends in the semiconductor market,” adding, “We hope it will help customers explore new investment opportunities ahead of 2027 and plan their investment direction.”
Meanwhile, the SK hynix share buyback that prompted the seminar was approved by the board on August 19. SK hynix decided to buy back 24.07 million common shares on the open market, worth about 40 trillion won, or approximately 3.3% of its total shares outstanding. The purchase period runs from August 20 to November 19, and all the shares are to be canceled within one to two weeks after the buyback is completed. SK Securities acted as the entrusted investment broker for the buyback, with a maximum of 2.407 million shares in purchase orders per day. SK Securities’ share price hit the daily upper limit shortly after the news was announced and remained strong in the next trading session. Analysts said this reflected expectations of higher commission revenue.
