“Even 100 trillion won in operating profit from Samsung Electronics isn’t enough” ... KOSPI falls to 6,600 [Financial News afternoon market update]

[The Financial News] The KOSPI has fallen to the 6,600 level. Samsung Electronics posted operating profit of more than 100 trillion won in a single quarter, but that appears not to have dispelled market concerns about a slowdown in business conditions.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of 2:50 p.m. on the 8th, the KOSPI was trading at 6,695.73, down 108.17 points (1.59%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,808.68, up 4.78 points (0.07%) from the previous trading day, but turned lower early in the session and fell as much as 2.26% in the afternoon to 6,650.29.
On the main board, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 1.2687 trillion won and 1.4042 trillion won, respectively. Individuals and other corporations were net buyers of 1.9219 trillion won and 749.2 billion won, respectively.
Among the stocks with the largest market capitalizations, Samsung Electronics, which released preliminary third-quarter results today, was down 1.68%. SK hynix (-1.33%), SK Square (-7.36%), Samsung Electro-Mechanics (-1.93%), Hyundai Motor (-3.13%), KB Financial Group (-2.67%), Samsung Biologics (-4.61%) and Samsung Life Insurance (-3.38%) were also weaker. LG Energy Solution (4.09%) and Samsung SDI (1.96%) were among the gainers.
All sectors were down. The largest declines were in construction (-4.10%), machinery and equipment (-3.97%), financials (-3.62%), transportation equipment and parts (-3.59%), securities (-3.35%) and IT services (-3.26%), in that order.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 895.13, down 3.3 points (0.37%) from the previous trading day. It opened at 898.19, down 0.24 points (0.03%) from the previous session.
On the KOSDAQ, institutions were selling shares worth 76.3 billion won. Foreign investors and individuals were buying shares worth 43.6 billion won and 42.1 billion won, respectively.
