[Financial News] To mark Hangeul Day, GS25 is releasing a dedicated font for free that captures the identity of its flagship food brand, “Hyejaroun.” The move aims to extend the company’s charitable activities, including donating lunchboxes and proceeds, by sharing the font.
According to industry sources on the 8th, GS25 will make the “GS Hyejaroun” font available for free to individuals and businesses starting on the 9th. It can be used for commercial and noncommercial purposes, including in print materials, advertisements, packaging, videos, websites and applications, and no separate attribution is required, the company said.
The GS Hyejaroun font was created based on a logo developed during the Hyejaroun brand’s renewal. It comprises 2,780 Hangul characters, 94 English letters and 541 special characters, and features rhythmic strokes and smooth curves. However, selling the font file itself or modifying it without authorization and redistributing it is restricted.
Hyejaroun began with a lunchbox first introduced by GS25 and actress Kim Hye-ja in 2010. The product line has since expanded to include gimbap, rice balls, bread and desserts, and cumulative sales from 2010 through September this year exceeded 540 million units.
Lee Jeong-pyo, head of the marketing division at GS Retail, said, “Hyejaroun, which began with lunchboxes, has long been part of everyday language, meaning generosity and abundance.” He added, “With the release of the GS Hyejaroun font, we hope Hyejaroun will establish itself as a brand that customers can directly use and experience in more moments of their daily lives.”
