【Financial News | Hoengseong = Kim Gi-seop】 Visitors to the Hoengseong Korean Beef Festival over the Hangul Day holiday can now spend an extra day in Hoengseong County, enjoying 30% off luge rides, making chewy steamed buns, and walking the 16-km Oxygen Trail.
According to the Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Foundation on the 8th, it will run tourism programs linked to the festival over the holiday period from the 9th to the 11th, including discounts at the Hoengseong Luge Experience Center, a city tour, steamed-bun-making activities, and campground events.
The Hoengseong Residents’ Unity Oxygen Trail Walk will take place on the morning of the 10th, the second day of the holiday, starting from the festival’s main stage. County residents and tourists alike can participate. Registration opens on-site at 9 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first 1,000 participants accepted, and the walk begins at 9:40 a.m. There are two routes: a 16-km standard course and an 8-km course for families with young children. There is no participation fee. Participants can also plan to have Korean beef for lunch at the festival venue’s grilling area after the walk.
Those who want to visit the festival grounds and tourist attractions in one trip can take the Luge X Korean Beef Festival City Tour, which connects the Hoengseong Luge Experience Center and the festival grounds. Daily departures through the 11th are confirmed, and reservations are being accepted on the tour operator’s website.
The Hoengseong Luge Experience Center is offering Gangwon residents a 50% discount on admission throughout this month. During the festival, from the 7th to the 11th, all visitors who book through Naver Reservations receive a 30% discount, regardless of where they live. The Hoengseong tourist taxi, which operates on 5- to 6-hour itineraries, is also offering 30% off fares through the end of this month. Visitors can check usage information on the foundation’s website before booking.
Visitors can make steamed buns themselves in Anheung Township throughout all three days of the holiday. The steamed-bun hall at Anheung Jjinppang Morakmorak Village will hold two daily sessions, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. from the 9th to the 11th, where participants can make chewy steamed buns filled with rice cake. The activity costs 10,000 won, or 16,000 won for a set that also includes making red bean cookies. Reservations can be made in advance through Naver Place.
Benefits are also available for visitors staying overnight. During the festival, the first 100 visitors to Eodapsan Campground who show receipts for spending at least 20,000 won in Hoengseong County will receive 500 grams of Hoengseong rice, Eosajinmi, as a gift. The Hoengseong Korean Beef Experience Center will operate the Dragon Slide for a limited time during the festival and also offer a tteokgalbi-making activity at 2 p.m. every day, with advance reservations accepted through Naver.
The Hoengseong Korean Beef Festival, now in its 22nd edition, opened on the 7th and continues through the 11th around Seomgang Riverside Park.
