[Financial News]  Iran's Foreign Ministry said it had submitted official conditions to mediators for restoring security in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz and ending the full-scale war. It made clear, however, that it would maintain indirect contact through mediators rather than hold direct talks with the United States.
On the 8th (local time), Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported that Esmail Baghaei Hamaneh, a spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, said in an interview, “Messages between the United States and Iran are being exchanged through mediators,” adding, “Iran has clearly conveyed its own considerations and conditions for ending the war on all fronts and achieving regional stability.”
Baghaei said, “The necessary response to the other side's (the United States') proposal will also be delivered through mediators,” stressing that Iran's position covers not only an immediate cessation of hostilities but also long-term stability in the Middle East.
Baghaei said significant progress had also been made with Oman toward establishing safe maritime corridors in the Strait of Hormuz.
He explained that the two countries' governments had achieved concrete results through technical-level consultations and had agreed on the precise geographic coordinates of safe navigation routes for vessels entering and leaving the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint for global oil transport.
He added that the Iranian government plans to formally notify the relevant international organizations of the agreement within days, in order to ensure freedom of navigation and strengthen trust with neighboring countries in the region, even amid heightened military tensions.
Meanwhile, foreign media reported that hard-line lawmakers in Iran's parliament are seeking to impeach Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who met U.S. envoy Steven Charles Witkoff during the UN General Assembly in New York last month.
The hard-line lawmakers reportedly called for Araghchi's impeachment, saying his contact with Witkoff exposed divisions within Iran over how to actually hold negotiations to end the war with the United States.
