[Financial News] KT said on the 8th that it will host ‘A Book We Drew Together: AI Friend Playground,’ a cultural event for children to take part in, with the Seoul Outdoor Library at Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall on the 9th for Hangeul Day.
The event was planned to share with the public works by children selected through KT Genie TV Kids Land’s ‘A Book We Drew Together’ contest and to promote the social value of children’s creativity. ‘A Book We Drew Together’ is a participatory picture-book project launched in 2023 and now in its third season this year. Each season, it has brought together children’s creations and presented a range of content, including picture books and AI media art.
All the picture books published through ‘A Book We Drew Together’ will be on display at the event venue and available for visitors to read. On the Seoul Plaza stage, AI fairy tales based on the Season 3 winning entries and created with generative AI technology will be screened, and the Season 3 child winners will hold a reading session to introduce their own works. Hands-on activities, including an AI image-making workshop and mini-book making, will also be offered.
The Season 3 picture book ‘Yui’ will be officially released at bookstores nationwide, both online and offline, on the day of the event, and will also be published as an e-book on Millie’s Library. The book is a reimagining of the Season 3 grand-prize-winning entry in ‘A Book We Drew Together’ by Jenny Melikhov, a children’s book author and illustrator.
The 15 AI fairy tales to be screened at the event were also released on Genie TV Kids Land on September 8. They use generative AI for text-to-speech (TTS) and image and video production, transforming children’s writing and drawings into video content.
Kim Byeong-jin, an executive director and head of KT’s Media Business Division, said, “We plan to continue encouraging children’s free creativity and expanding cultural experiences that the public can enjoy together.”
