[The Financial News] Koo Jun-yup, formerly of Clon, was spotted by local reporters visiting the grave of his late wife, Hsu Hsi-yuan (Seo Hee-won), on what would have been her 48th birthday.
According to Taiwan’s ETtoday and other outlets on the 7th, Koo visited Hsu Hsi-yuan’s grave the previous morning. It was the 48th birthday of Hsu, who died last year. Koo reportedly visited the grave with her family, wearing a gray raincoat despite the rainy, foul weather.
That day, the family marked her birthday by wearing matching outfits in shades of pink, which Hsu Hsi-yuan had liked when she was alive, and bringing Champagne, cake, flowers and other things the deceased had enjoyed. Looking gaunter than before, Koo went to the grave from the morning, carrying items in both hands as he tidied the area around it. He stayed there, remembering Hsu.
When Taiwanese reporters at the scene asked Koo whether he had any plans to return to Korea, he briefly answered, “No,” and also indicated that he intended to remain in Taiwan and stay by his wife’s side.
Hsu Hsi-yuan’s younger sister, Hsu Hsi-ti (Dee Hsu), also posted photos on social media on the 6th of the family visiting the grave. “I sat beside my older sister, cried and laughed, told her how things were going, and talked about how much we had missed her,” she said.
Koo first met Taiwanese actress Hsu Hsi-yuan in Taiwan in 1998, and they began dating. But they broke up after about a year because of their long-distance relationship and opposition from their agencies, among other reasons. After Hsu, who had married Chinese second-generation tycoon Wang Xiaofei, divorced him in 2021, the two got in touch again after more than 20 years and married the following year, in 2022.
However, Hsu died suddenly at age 48 in February last year while on a family trip to Japan, from influenza accompanied by pneumonia, shocking many. Even after losing his wife, Koo has continued to visit her grave every day, appearing unable to forget her and drawing sympathy.
