The Korea Tourism Organization said on the 8th that it had unveiled the ‘2026 Fall Foliage Map’ on the Korea Travel & Tourism Guide website, in collaboration with the National Arboretum of the Korea Forest Service. The map covers peak foliage times and major attractions across the country.
The map divides the country into six regions, indicating when foliage is expected to peak in each and highlighting 36 destinations nationwide recommended for autumn travel. Foliage is expected to peak from late October in the capital region and Gangwon region, and in early to mid-November in the Gyeongsang and Jeolla regions.
Featured attractions include Incheon Grand Park, where a tunnel of vibrant autumn colors creates a spectacular sight; Goseokjeong National Tourist Site in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province; Sapgyoho in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province; Mungwang Reservoir in Goesan, North Chungcheong Province; Changpo Garden in Geochang, South Gyeongsang Province; Meta Provence in Damyang, South Jeolla Province; and Ttarabi Oreum in Seogwipo, Jeju.
To predict when foliage will peak, the National Arboretum used observation data from its citizen science program, the ‘Plant Phenology Observation Project.’ This year’s predictions were based on data directly collected by 829 citizen scientists.
Detailed information on peak foliage times and recommended attractions is available on the Korea Travel & Tourism Guide website.
