[Financial News] Shinhan Financial Group Co., Ltd. supports the participation of Korean residents in Japan in investing in the domestic financial market while maintaining ties with them.
According to the financial industry on the 8th, Shinhan Financial Group attended the 80th anniversary ceremony of the founding of the Korean Residents Association in Japan, held at Lotte Hotel World in Jamsil, Seoul on the 7th, where it reflected on its long-standing relationship with Korean residents in Japan and introduced the group's growth process and plans to enhance corporate value.
This event, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Mindan, which was launched in 1946, marked the first time the founding ceremony was held in Korea rather than Japan.
Mindan has long protected the rights and interests of Koreans in Japan and served as a central hub for the community. It has stepped forward to provide support whenever the Republic of Korea faced a crisis, such as dispatching student volunteer troops during the Korean War and launching a remittance campaign during the financial crisis.
Shinhan Financial Group was also established in 1982 by gathering the will of 341 small shareholders of Korean descent living in Japan who wanted to contribute to the economic development of their homeland. It put forward "Financial Service to the Nation" as its founding philosophy, aiming to contribute to the development of the nation and society through finance.
Shinhan Financial Group operated a promotional booth at this event due to the recent rise in interest in the domestic financial market, particularly among young Korean residents in Japan. On this day, Shinhan Bank and Shinhan Investment & Securities explained to visitors the procedures for opening bank and securities accounts, which vary depending on nationality and residency status. They also provided consultations on deposit and remittance methods for domestic and international investment funds, thereby enhancing accessibility to the domestic financial market and facilitating investment participation.
In addition, materials summarizing Shinhan Financial Group's growth process, key management achievements, and plans to enhance corporate value were distributed. Through this, the group's current status and mid-to-long-term growth strategies were communicated to Korean residents in Japan.
"Shinhan Financial Group started with the participation of Korean shareholders residing in Japan who wished for the economic development of their homeland," a Shinhan Financial Group official said. "Going forward, we will carry on the founding spirit of 'contributing to the nation through finance' and strengthen communication to ensure that our precious ties with Korean residents in Japan continue into future generations."
