[Financial News] Busan Metropolitan City said on the 8th that it had launched and would operate ‘Busan-kku,’ a digital goods platform where people can collect and enjoy digital content infused with diverse local flavors, including Busan’s landmarks and festivals.
Reflecting the digital goods culture spreading especially among Gen Z and the trend toward personal branding, the platform showcases evocative design content created in collaboration with local illustrators based in Busan.
Featured items include evocative illustrations and video wallpapers centered on major landmarks such as Gwangan Bridge and Gamcheon Culture Village, as well as digital stickers (PNG) capturing the small, distinctive moments of everyday life in Busan, including the city’s communications character, ‘Boogi.’
In particular, ‘phone decorating’ (customizing smartphones) and ‘computer decorating’ (customizing computer and tablet wallpapers) draw on the latest trend of personalizing digital devices to suit individual tastes, offering customized digital content such as dedicated illustrations, stickers, and wallpapers.
The platform has maximized user convenience by creating a customized search system by topic, item, device, and district or county. It categorizes materials by type, intended use, and theme, and identifies the relevant Korea Open Government License (KOGL) type—the licensing standard for the free use of public works—to support safe and unrestricted use.
The city is also holding an opening event in the ‘Goods I Made’ section, where citizens and tourists can take part directly.
A city official said, “As the so-called ‘Busan fever’—the phenomenon of people becoming captivated by Busan’s charms—has been spreading recently, we built this digital goods platform so anyone can enjoy and keep a piece of Busan’s spirit in their everyday lives. We hope that the images of Busan captured by citizens and tourists themselves will be transformed into evocative content and that the platform will become a place for people to connect as they build Busan’s brand value together.”
