[Financial News] Shinsung Tongsang’s children’s clothing brand Topten Kids found in a survey that 8 in 10 expectant parents and parents of infants and toddlers choose their child’s first outfit carefully.
Shinsung Tongsang said on the 8th that Topten Kids surveyed 1,035 members of an online mothers’ community who were pregnant or had a child aged 24 months or younger ahead of Pregnant Women’s Day. Of the respondents, 80.4% said they choose their child’s first outfit more carefully than other clothes.
The most common reason for choosing a child’s first outfit carefully was that it is the item of clothing worn the longest or most often during the newborn stage (63.9%). This was followed by wanting to choose good-quality material because a child’s skin is sensitive (57.5%) and because it is the first clothing the child wears after birth (52.7%).
Material was the most important factor when choosing a bodysuit (86.0%). Other considerations were reasonable price (76.5%), convenience, such as the fastening method (57.9%), and design and color (55.3%).
To meet this demand, Topten Kids used soft cotton for its bodysuits and added snap buttons to make diaper changes easier. The snaps are different colors so their positions are easy to distinguish. From January through August this year, sales of Topten Kids bodysuits rose 360% from the same period last year.
A Topten Kids representative said, “When choosing a child’s first outfit, parents pay close attention not only to the material but also to how easy it is to put on and take off,” adding, “We will continue to reflect the criteria parents consider important in our products.”
