[Financial News] After reports emerged that Peptron had ended its joint research agreement with global pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, its shares plunged to the lower price limit in after-hours trading.
According to the Korea Exchange, Peptron was trading at 91,500 won on the 7th, down 39,100 won (29.94%) from the previous trading day's close.
In a notice on its website today, Peptron said, “The period for the technical evaluation of the ‘Smart Depot’ platform we have been conducting with Eli Lilly ended as of the 7th,” adding, “The company also takes seriously the fact that, at the end of the technical evaluation period, we are unable to announce the conclusion of a subsequent commercialization agreement.”
It added, “Reviews and discussions on business cooperation for commercialization will proceed based on the results of the joint research and technical evaluation accumulated to date, with comprehensive consideration of all the factors necessary for actual commercialization, including commercialization potential, scalability to mass production, marketability and intellectual property rights,” and said, “We will continue to work to ensure that it can be applied to our partner’s future commercialization efforts.”
In October 2024, Peptron signed a technology evaluation agreement (MTA) with Eli Lilly and has since been conducting joint research. The financial market focused on the possibility that ‘Smart Depot,’ Peptron’s long-acting drug-delivery platform, could be applied to Eli Lilly’s obesity treatment.
