[Financial News] On the 7th, the Blue House criticized Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon over his remark, “Honestly acknowledge the failure of real estate policies over the past year,” saying, “Is Mayor Oh not also partly responsible for the real estate problem?”
A Blue House official made the remark to reporters that day in response to Mayor Oh’s criticism.
Earlier, Mayor Oh posted on Facebook the previous day, urging President Lee Jae-myung: “Honestly acknowledge the failure of real estate policies over the past year, and courageously declare that you will correct the misguided course and start again from square one.” This was a rebuttal to a post President Lee had published on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Thanks to a government-level push to move quickly, permits and approvals—a leading indicator of housing supply in the Seoul metropolitan area—are surging.”
In response, Mayor Oh said, “People’s lives are too dire to stand by and watch the president claim victory in his own mind,” adding, “He seems to have no willingness at all to accept reality as it is.”
The official stressed to Mayor Oh, “On real estate—on Seoul’s real estate issues—I ask that the government and city put their heads together and work together, and that you take an active role in resolving supply problems or issues involving jeonse and monthly rent.”
