[Financial News] It has belatedly been confirmed that police decided not to refer a case in which singer G-Dragon (real name: Kwon Ji-yong) and Yang Hyun-suk, YG Entertainment's executive producer, were accused of violating copyright law.
Police said on the 7th that the Seoul Mapo Police Station decided this past April not to refer G-Dragon and the executive producer, who had been accused of violating copyright law, finding no grounds for the allegations.
In November 2024, composer A filed a complaint with police alleging that G-Dragon, the executive producer and others had used a song A composed without authorization.
A claimed that the song A composed, 'G-DRAGON,' was used without permission at G-Dragon's solo concert in 2009, and that it was included under a different title, 'At Age Thirteen,' on the live album 'Shine a Light,' released the following year. A's side claimed that although the song's title was changed, A was not credited as its composer.
After receiving the complaint, police investigated people involved in the case and carried out two raids, including at YG Entertainment's headquarters, last year.
However, after its investigation, police concluded that it would be difficult to establish copyright law violations by G-Dragon and the executive producer, and decided not to refer the case.
