[Financial News] Davichi’s Kang Min-kyung directly addressed the issue after some people reacted to her saying she found high-definition fan cams burdensome, wondering whether the remark was aimed at certain fans.
A video titled “Davichi Lived on Food in the Car for Two Months” was posted on the YouTube channel “Kang Min-kyeong” on the 5th.
The video showed Davichi eating various foods in their car while making the rounds of university festivals. Later, after Kang Min-kyung’s comments about fan cams became known, fans interpreted them in different ways.
After the performance, Kang Min-kyung was watching a video posted to Instagram Stories when she said, “I find fan cams filmed in high definition and uploaded to YouTube really burdensome,” adding, “Rather than that, I like the little memories and stories from an ordinary day.”
She went on to add, about Stories, which disappear after 24 hours, “There’s comfort in knowing they’ll disappear. Even if I look a little ugly, it’ll be gone soon. And if I look good, I can share it again and feel good about it.”
Kang Min-kyung had previously received malicious comments about her appearance, including speculation about plastic surgery, in response to fan cams of her performances.
While some people said they understood why Kang Min-kyung felt burdened, some fans who had filmed Davichi’s performances themselves and posted videos expressed disappointment, saying her remark sounded as if it were aimed at them.
After similar reactions appeared in the video’s comments, Kang Min-kyung explained her position during a live broadcast on the afternoon of the 6th. She reportedly clarified that her remarks were about Shorts and Reels edited maliciously and videos with provocative titles, and that she was not criticizing fan-shot fan cams.
Kang Min-kyung runs the YouTube channel “Kang Min-kyeong,” which has 1.59 million subscribers.
