[Financial News] HD Construction Equipment Co., Ltd. will supply engines for generators that will provide power to AI data centers.
HD Construction Equipment Co., Ltd. disclosed on the 7th that it had signed a contract with Irok, a U.S. power infrastructure solutions company, to supply long-block engines for gas power generation. The contract is worth 390 billion won, with deliveries scheduled over two years beginning next year.
The long block is a high-efficiency, 22-liter-class gas engine for power generation. It is a semi-finished engine body that excludes the fuel and ignition systems. Generators using the long block are expected to supply power to hyperscale data centers operated by U.S. tech giants.
With this order, HD Construction Equipment Co., Ltd. has strengthened its foothold in the North American AI data center market. The company sees strong growth potential as data centers expand rapidly and demand for power generation surges.
Global market research firm Dell’Oro Group estimates that cumulative worldwide capital investment in data center facilities will reach $3 trillion by 2030. That is more than 4,000 trillion won. The generator market is also growing accordingly. Fortune Business Insights forecasts that it will double from 14 trillion won this year to 27 trillion won in 2034.
Accordingly, HD Construction Equipment Co., Ltd. is establishing a production system for ultra-large power-generation engines in the 1–3 MW class, centered on its new engine plant in Gunsan. It will launch a 37-liter-class engine with an output of 1.5 MW next year, followed by a 77-liter-class engine with an output of 3 MW the year after.
An HD Construction Equipment Co., Ltd. official said, “We will continue to expand our presence in the global data center and distributed power markets.”
