【Financial News, Inje—Reporter Kim Gi-seop】With chrysanthemums and gujeolcho reaching their peak late, the Inje Autumn Flower Festival, which has drawn nearly 200,000 visitors, will keep its flower trails open for another week through the 18th.
Inje County Cultural Foundation said on the 7th that this year’s Inje Autumn Flower Festival will close on the 18th, rather than the originally scheduled 11th. The festival, which opened on September 24 in and around Yongdae Tourist Site in Buk-myeon, will now run for a total of 25 days. The period was extended so more visitors can enjoy the flower garden while the autumn blooms are at their peak.
Visitor numbers also remain steady. As of the 5th, cumulative attendance stood at 193,306, putting the festival close to the 200,000 mark. Some areas where the buds had not fully opened early in the festival are now in full bloom, so tourists who return after an earlier visit can see a markedly different scene.

This year’s festival, themed “Let’s Walk Only the Flower Paths in Inje,” features the Park In-hwan Romantic Garden, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the poet’s birth, and four themed areas: Happiness, Love, Communication and Healing. The colorful autumn flowers are complemented by a literary touch, while the waterside trail and pine forest add to the deepening autumn atmosphere.
From the 12th through the 18th, the extended period will focus on viewing the flower garden. The agricultural and specialty products market and the Pine Forest Cafe will remain open, so visitors can stroll along the flower paths and waterside trail, take a break and buy local agricultural and specialty products. However, performances and hands-on programs will run only during the original festival period, and only some food-truck operators will continue doing business.
Kim Jeong-su, head of the festival team at the Inje County Cultural Foundation, said, “Even the areas that disappointed visitors because the flowers had not fully bloomed early in the festival are now filled with chrysanthemums and gujeolcho. I hope those who have already visited will return during the extended week to enjoy the flower garden in fuller bloom and the autumn of Naeseorak.”
