[Financial News] The Ministry of Employment and Labor said on the 7th that it had released 117 additional accident investigation reports detailing the circumstances, causes and preventive measures related to serious accident cases.
An accident investigation report is prepared for a workplace where a serious accident has occurred, based on an investigation by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency or relevant experts into the circumstances of the accident, its causes and measures to prevent recurrence.
The ministry had previously released 51 reports before the amended Occupational Safety and Health Act took effect on May 27. It also set up a dedicated bulletin board that allows users to search by criteria such as industry, size, region and accident type. The 51 reports released earlier have received more than 50,000 views in total.
The 117 reports newly released by the ministry mainly cover cases from 2023 in which court rulings have become final.
The ministry plans to continue releasing accident investigation reports so they can be widely used as public information to prevent industrial accidents.
It also plans to release in stages reports on cases that were indicted before a ruling became final and are still being tried, taking into account the intent of the amended law.
Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon said, “We will actively release accident investigation reports so companies in the field can prevent the same or similar accidents by learning from actual serious accident cases.” He added, “If the reports are used to identify accident cases in our regions and industries and to find and address harmful and hazardous factors, they will undoubtedly have a significant preventive effect.”
