[Financial News] Kakao Entertainment Corp. said on the 7th that it had signed a strategic partnership with Atlantic Music Group (AMG), a key music group under Warner Music Group.
The two companies will pursue comprehensive cooperation across the board, from developing strategies for K-pop artists’ global growth to music production, distribution, marketing and promotion.
Atlantic Music Group houses prominent labels including Atlantic Records, 10K Projects and 300 Entertainment, and is expanding its influence in the global music market through a digital-first strategy tailored to the changing music landscape. Atlantic Records, in particular, has launched globally renowned artists including Bruno Mars, Charli XCX, Coldplay, Charlie Puth, Cardi B and Miley Cyrus.
Kakao Entertainment plans to combine Atlantic Music Group’s global music business capabilities and network in an integrated way, and pursue a new label partnership to help K-pop expand globally.
In addition to introducing K-pop music and artists to overseas markets, the companies will jointly develop global strategies from the early stages of market entry, taking into account various factors such as each IP’s musical identity, stage of activity and competitiveness in global markets.
A Kakao Entertainment official said, “This partnership is significant because the two companies will bring together all their capabilities to jointly discover the potential of K-pop artists and IPs and help them expand in global markets,” adding, “Building on the expertise and networks each has developed, we will create more ways to connect with K-pop’s global fanbase and continue to expand K-pop’s global influence.”
