[Financial News] A serving firefighter who was exercising before work spotted a woman in her 30s standing outside a bridge railing and rescued her with the help of members of the public.
According to Channel A on the 6th, Lee Jae-dong, chief of the Fire Equipment and Accounting Division at the Gangwon Fire Headquarters, was exercising at Soyang 2 Bridge in Chuncheon, Gangwon, at around 6:26 a.m. on the 1st when he spotted A, a woman in her 30s, standing outside the railing.
Thinking that A might panic if he ran toward her, Lee made eye contact with her from 30 meters away and slowly walked closer.
The moment A lowered her body, Lee grabbed her arm and stopped her from falling. He continued speaking to her, asked people nearby for help and called 119.
Two people who saw what was happening immediately ran over to help with the rescue. Lee and the members of the public held on to A until the 119 rescue team arrived.
The 119 rescue team arrived at the scene and pulled A over the railing to its inner side, rescuing her. Lee and the members of the public reportedly left after confirming that A had been rescued safely.
Lee said, “Anyone would have helped like that,” adding, “The members of the public helped even more actively than I did and worked alongside me.”
