[Financial News] LG Electronics posted consolidated revenue of 23.827 trillion won and operating profit of 781.8 billion won (provisional) for the third quarter of this year. The figures represent increases of 13.5% and 8.9%, respectively, from the same period last year.
In particular, for the first time this year, revenue for the first three quarters exceeded 70 trillion won and operating profit topped 4 trillion won. The home appliance and automotive businesses each grew by double digits or more, serving as cash cows. Growth in the Global South, which has strong growth potential, and in the business-to-business (B2B) business are also seen as contributing to expanded revenue.
LG Electronics announced provisional results for the third quarter of 2026, including these figures, on the 7th.
First, in the home appliance business, a two-track strategy covering both the premium and volume segments, along with expanded appliance subscriptions, online sales and B2B operations, contributed to revenue growth. The company also maintained a solid profitability structure while continuing efforts to improve operational efficiency in areas such as manufacturing and logistics.
The Media Entertainment business increased sales of premium products, including OLED TVs, and achieved year-on-year revenue growth, driven by expansion in emerging markets. The webOS platform business also continued to grow. The business remained profitable by increasing the share of premium sales and improving the efficiency of spending on competition.
The automotive business continued its stable growth, supported by the smooth conversion of its order backlog into revenue. Along with the effect of revenue growth, a higher share of premium sales in the vehicle infotainment business helped establish it as a stable cash cow in the B2B sector.
The heating, ventilation and air conditioning business saw sales rise mainly in overseas markets, maintaining revenue at around the same level as in the same period last year. Profitability edged down year on year, affected by ongoing investment in future businesses, including securing new production capacity, as well as hiring for new businesses.
LG Electronics’ cumulative revenue for the first three quarters of this year was 71.3807 trillion won, while cumulative operating profit reached 4.0346 trillion won. Compared with the same period last year, revenue rose 9.2% and operating profit increased 55.9%. For the first time, cumulative revenue for the first three quarters exceeded 70 trillion won and operating profit topped 4 trillion won this year. Revenue and operating profit have continued to post substantial year-on-year growth in every quarter so far this year.
LG Electronics plans to invest in future businesses, drawing on its strong earnings-generating capacity.
To meet rapidly growing demand for cooling solutions for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, the company is upgrading production bases at home and abroad and expanding capacity. In robotics, a key field of physical AI, it is investing in a data factory in Yangjae, Seoul, which will be the largest in Korea, as well as production infrastructure in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, for the mass production of actuators, key robot components.
Meanwhile, the provisional results announced this time are estimates based on Korean International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS). LG Electronics plans to announce its consolidated net profit for the third quarter of 2026 and the business results of each division at an earnings briefing scheduled for the end of this month.
