【Financial News, Jeju — Yong-bok Jeong】 Donations raised by firefighters showcasing their fitness and talents in a calendar have gone toward installing safety features and improving living conditions for eight households in Jeju vulnerable to fires. Jeju Fire Service’s ‘Fit Firefighter Calendar’ donation project, which raised 24.36 million won last year, is returning this year.
According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters on the 7th, Jeju Fire Service is producing the ‘2027 Jeju Fit Firefighter Calendar’ with the Jeju Community Chest of Korea and will hold a donation event in November and December.
A total of 10 people—seven serving firefighters and three volunteer firefighters—are contributing their time and talents to this year’s calendar. The shoot will capture their strong physiques and the distinctive nature of their profession in a pictorial style, and will also feature equipment used in rescue and firefighting operations.
The project is drawing attention not so much for the calendar itself as for the direct link between how the donations are used and fire prevention.
Last year, Jeju Fire Service and the Jeju Community Chest of Korea held an event offering a 2026 Fit Firefighter Calendar to donors and raised 24.36 million won. All the proceeds went to the ‘Making Homes Safer’ project for eight households in Jeju vulnerable to fires.
Fire-prevention equipment was installed in the supported homes, including Internet of Things (IoT) smoke detectors that detect smoke and alert residents to fires, fire extinguishers and power strips with automatic fire suppression. Electrical, gas and lighting systems were repaired, and wallpaper and floor coverings were replaced.
In effect, the donations were used not just for one-off living assistance but to improve home safety by reducing the risk of fires and strengthening the ability to respond quickly if one occurs.
Jeju Fire Service will continue the same charitable effort this year. From November through December, it plans to hold a donation event using the 2027 calendar through the Fire Safety Headquarters’ website and social media (SNS), among other channels.

All donations raised through the Jeju Community Chest of Korea are to be used to expand safety facilities and improve living conditions for fire-vulnerable households in the province. The number of households to receive support this year and the details of the assistance will be determined based on fundraising results and other factors.
Another distinctive feature of the project is that it channels public interest in ‘fit firefighters’ into practical fire prevention. Firefighters and volunteer firefighters take part in the photo shoot themselves rather than hiring separate models, and the donations raised are then directed to local groups vulnerable to fire.
Jin-su Park, head of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “Last year, the participation of Jeju residents helped create safer living environments for households vulnerable to fires. This year, too, we will continue this effort so that firefighters’ donated talents can help keep our neighbors safe.”
