[Financial News] As companies continue to expand brand content using their own typefaces in the run-up to Hangul Day each year, CU is unveiling its official font, “SD CU Good Friend.”
According to industry sources on the 7th, BGF Retail, which operates CU, will begin using “SD CU Good Friend,” a font developed jointly with Sandoll Inc., this month on online channels including Pocket CU and Instagram. Starting next month, it plans to expand its use offline, including on in-store promotional materials, and to use it on product packaging as well.
The two companies jointly developed the font after signing a business agreement last January. It is described as incorporating into the lettering CU’s brand qualities of friendliness, energy and a trendy feel, with features such as soft curves and slightly upturned strokes.
CU has also launched products tied to Hangul Day. On the 6th, it released “Initial-Consonant Macarons,” inspired by Hangul consonants, and plans to introduce “Challenge Snacks” bearing phrases set in the Good Friend font this coming December. The typeface will also be used on future products and merchandise, including keyring books and clothing.
Starting on the 9th, Hangul Day, the font will be available to use free of charge for three months on the Sandoll Cloud website.
Lee Eun-gwan, head of customer experience (CX) at BGF Retail, said, “‘Good Friend’ expresses CU’s greeting to customers in a single typeface, capturing the bright and friendly image unique to CU.”
