[Financial News] Woori Financial Group has helped promising athletes in less popular sports pursue their dreams of making the national team by giving them the opportunity to experience the Asian Games firsthand. The initiative supports the growth of future generations through international competition viewing and interaction with national team athletes.
According to financial industry sources on the 7th, Woori Financial took six Woori Dream Bridge athletes on a tour of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games venues from the 30th of last month for four days and three nights. The tour was part of Woori Dream Bridge 2026·2036, Woori Financial’s support program for promising athletes in less popular sports.
Woori Dream Bridge is a social contribution program through which Woori Financial will provide a total of 3 billion won over 10 years through 2036 to support the development of promising athletes in less popular sports. The group announced this plan at its social contribution concert, “2026 Woori Momocon,” held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, on the 19th of last month. Woori Financial will select 60 athletes each year and provide them with development grants, as well as run various programs to motivate them.
Through this tour, Woori Financial gave six promising athletes in four sports—wrestling, shooting, tennis and boxing—the opportunity to experience a major international multi-sport event firsthand. The athletes watched competitions in their own sports and observed the techniques and competitive strategies of national team athletes from various countries. At the Asian Games athletes’ village, they met national team athletes and heard about their experiences and advice, bringing their own dreams of making the national team into sharper focus.
Meanwhile, at “2026 Woori Momocon” on the 19th of last month, Woori Financial Chairman Jong-ryong Yim also met with Woori Dream Bridge scholarship recipients and hosted a dinner for them. Woori Financial plans to continue supporting future generations through inclusive finance and sports initiatives. On the most recent Children’s Day, it invited 200 children from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in “Woori Dream Sports Day” with athletes from the group’s sports teams.
