According to Sony Korea, its share by value in South Korea’s full-frame mirrorless camera market was 43.3% in the first half of this year. The Alpha 7 V, launched last December, ranked first in full-frame camera sales in South Korea in the first half, while the Alpha 7C II ranked second.
Sony introduced the Alpha brand in 2006 with the launch of the Alpha 100, a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. In 2013, it launched the Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R, 35mm full-frame mirrorless cameras, and has since expanded its autofocus (AF) capabilities and lens lineup.
To mark 13 consecutive years as market leader, Sony Korea is holding a product registration event for full-frame cameras and lenses from today through December 9.
The eligible cameras are nine models: the Alpha 1 II, Alpha 9 III, Alpha 7R VI, Alpha 7R V, Alpha 7CR, Alpha 7 IV, Alpha 7 V, Alpha 7C II and ZV-E1. A total of 19 lenses are eligible, including two F2.0 GM zoom lenses and three GM2 zoom lenses.
Depending on the product, buyers can choose gifts worth up to 550,000 won, including a camera backpack, tripod, dual battery charger or high-capacity battery. Customers must purchase an eligible product by December 9, then complete product registration and apply for a gift through the Sony Korea customer support website by the 16th of the same month.
