[Financial News] As the 2026 KBO League approaches the end of the regular season, it is heating up with a wealth of record-setting feats, alongside a fierce race for position. With the unprecedented feat of two players reaching 200 hits in the same season, the battle of pride among sluggers vying for their first career home-run title is also nearing its peak.
The most eye-catching story is undoubtedly the hit race among the “hitting machines.” On the 6th, KT Wiz's Choi Won-jun and Lotte Giants' Víctor Reyes both reached the 200-hit mark, as if they had planned it. It is the first time in KBO League history that two players have reached 200 hits in the same season.

Choi Won-jun became the first player in the league this season to reach 200 hits, with a double in the third inning against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Among Korean hitters, this is a remarkable feat not seen since Seo Geon-chang reached 201 hits in 2014, when he played for the Nexen Heroes—12 years ago. Choi added a single to right in the fourth inning, quickly reaching 201 hits.
At Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan the same day, Reyes matched Choi's season total of 201 hits with a single in the fourth inning and a solo homer in the sixth against the Doosan Bears. Reyes, who set the KBO League's single-season hits record with 202 in 2024, also became the first player ever to reach 200 hits twice. Both hitters are now just two hits away from breaking the all-time KBO record of 202, held by Reyes, making every at-bat a new chapter in baseball history.

The home-run race among the sluggers is becoming every bit as intense as the hit race. KIA Tigers' Kim Do-yeong hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the third inning against the Samsung Lions in Gwangju, bringing his season total to 43. After homering for the second straight day, Kim has begun to cement his bid for his first career home-run title.
The challengers are closing in fiercely, too. LG Twins' Austin Dean hit a three-run homer in the first inning against the NC Dinos the same day, his 41st of the season.
Austin is now tied for second with KT's Sam Hilliard, who has 41, and is hot on leader Kim Do-yeong's heels, just two behind. With the regular season nearing its end, the hitters' show of power on the field has emerged as one of the biggest things to watch in the closing stretch of the KBO League.
