[Financial News] On Group Medical Foundation Saemaul Geumgo earned the highest grade in the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives’ management assessment about two and a half years after beginning operations in April 2024, receiving recognition for its top-tier financial soundness.
On Group Medical Foundation Saemaul Geumgo, chaired by Jeong Geun, said on the 7th that it had earned an overall Grade 1 (Excellent) in the ‘2026 Management Assessment’ conducted by the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives across credit unions nationwide.
The Saemaul Geumgo management assessment is a regular evaluation that rigorously examines a credit union’s overall operations, including capital adequacy, asset quality, profitability, liquidity and management capabilities. Only around the top 10% of the more than 1,200 Saemaul Geumgo credit unions nationwide are awarded Grade 1. It is highly unusual nationwide for a newly established workplace credit union to achieve Grade 1 just two and a half years after its founding.
From the early days of its establishment, On Group Medical Foundation Saemaul Geumgo has built a risk-management system focused on strong fundamentals and maintained transparent management.
In this assessment, it received high marks across all areas of financial stability, including maintaining high levels of capital relative to risk-weighted assets (the BIS capital ratio) and liquidity, and substantially reducing its delinquency rate.
This was underpinned by the high level of participation among employees of medical institutions affiliated with On Hospital Group, including On Hospital. The active participation of thousands of employees—including doctors, nurses, healthcare workers and administrative staff—as members enabled the credit union to quickly build a solid deposit base and a stable loan portfolio.
On Hospital Director Kim Dong-heon, who served as the first chair of Saemaul Geumgo and formerly headed Busan National University Hospital, emphasized, “Achieving Grade 1 in the management assessment just two and a half years after opening is thanks to the deep trust and support of the On Hospital Group’s medical family. We will continue to carefully manage financial soundness, safeguard the assets of medical professionals and employees, and serve as a reliable financial partner offering differentiated financial-welfare benefits.”
