[Financial News] Hanwha’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based energy management system has been recognized for its competitiveness in a U.S. assessment of innovative technologies. The technology reduces costs by optimizing energy use at large power-consuming facilities such as data centers.
Hanwha said on the 7th that Fast Company, a U.S. publication specializing in business and management, selected Energy Fluo, an AI-based energy management system from Transgrid Energy, a subsidiary of Hanwha Futureproof, in the Applied AI category of its “2026 Next-Generation Technologies” on the 6th (local time).
Energy Fluo analyzes in real time electricity use across facilities—including power equipment, energy storage systems (ESS), cooling equipment and information technology (IT) systems—to help operators optimize energy use. The company says the system can reduce electricity operating costs by 5–25%, depending on site conditions.
Energy Fluo manages individual assets such as power generation equipment, batteries and cooling equipment, as well as changes in external conditions, through a single system. This enables integrated monitoring and control from power generation through storage to consumption. The system also includes safeguards to ensure safety. Last March, it received certification under UL315, an AI technology safety standard. It is also designed so that AI recommends energy optimization measures during key decision-making processes, while operators retain final control by approving them.
Fast Company noted that Energy Fluo uses machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to monitor data centers, analyze the causes of problems and determine responses to optimize power consumption.
Transgrid Energy CEO Park Young-chun said, “Data center power grids, with their extreme complexity, can no longer be managed through fragmented, siloed approaches. Energy Fluo helps flexibly direct more power to data center operations within a limited allowance and enables integrated monitoring and control of the entire facility.”
Each year, Fast Company assesses technologies across 31 categories that lead innovation and have the potential to change the future of society, selecting them as next-generation technologies. Last year, Google, Volvo and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. were among those selected.
