Okestro said on the 7th that it had won the Korea Housing Finance Corporation’s “Project to Enhance IT System Operational Stability” and would upgrade its cloud infrastructure using its server virtualization solution, “Contrabass (CONTRABASS).”
The project will replace the existing Nutanix-based virtualization environment with Contrabass. It focuses on upgrading aging IT infrastructure and building an operational framework that can adapt to changing demand for financial operations and information technology (IT) resources.
Okestro had previously built a Contrabass pilot environment for the Korea Housing Finance Corporation. According to the company, the corporation decided to expand the solution’s deployment in this project after the pilot operation verified its performance and high availability, including its ability to maintain services during failures.
Okestro will build a virtualization environment based on hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), which integrates resources such as computing, memory and storage. It will support allocating or expanding resources according to business needs and monitoring the status of physical infrastructure and virtualized resources in real time. The system is designed to ensure service continuity in the event of a failure through high-availability features and resource reallocation.
It will also provide a web-based integrated management environment to help users monitor infrastructure operations and respond to failures. The company expects that switching to a homegrown solution will reduce the burden of licensing costs for foreign products and policy changes, and lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) over the long term.
Building on its experience migrating foreign virtualization environments, including VMware and Nutanix, to Contrabass, Okestro plans to expand adoption in the public and financial sectors.
Okestro CEO Kim Beom-jae said, “It is significant that the scope of Contrabass adoption has expanded through this upgrade project, as it shows that our technological capabilities have led to customers choosing the solution,” adding, “We will strengthen the competitiveness of homegrown virtualization solutions and establish ourselves as a practical alternative that customers can trust.”
