[Financial News] Everland, part of Samsung C&T Resort Group, said on the 7th that it will showcase a variety of seasonal plants, including kochia (daepssari), along Sky Garden Trail to welcome fall.
Kochia is expected to reach its peak this weekend, and visitors can also see a variety of trees, including maples and ginkgoes, from late this month through early next month.
Kochia, known for its round shape, is commonly called daepssari in Korea. Its stems have long been dried and used to make brooms, making the plant familiar in everyday life. In particular, from early fall, as chlorophyll levels decrease and levels of the reddish pigment anthocyanin rise, its leaves and stems turn red earlier than those of other plants. When the fall colors reach their peak, it takes on an intense red hue that looks as if it is ablaze, which is why it is also called “Burning Bush.”
According to Everland, kochia along Sky Garden Trail is currently changing from green to pink and creating a beautiful autumn scene; it is expected to reach its peak this weekend.
An Everland official said, “Starting with kochia, trees throughout the grounds, including maples and ginkgoes, will change color one after another from late this month through early next month, ushering in the full-fledged fall foliage season.”
