[Financial News] Genesis said on the 7th that it would officially sponsor the 31st Busan International Film Festival. The sponsorship, which began in 2017, is now in its 10th year.
Genesis will provide around 100 vehicles—including the GV90, Genesis G90, Genesis GV80 Hybrid, GV80 Black and Genesis Electrified GV70—as official transport for leading film directors, actors and festival officials during the festival. At the opening ceremony's red-carpet event on the 6th, it used the GV90 Neolun as an official vehicle. During the festival, except for the opening and closing ceremonies, one GV90 Neolun will be displayed near the main stage at the Busan Cinema Center.
Founded in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival is Asia's largest film festival. This year, it is reported to have joined the A-list of international film festivals, alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice International Film Festival. The winner of its top prize, the Busan Award Grand Prize, is eligible for submission in the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film category.
The festival will also screen 'Flesh Impact,' a film marking the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's birth, whose production Genesis supported. Directed by actor and filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal, the 17-minute short was first unveiled at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival and will meet audiences in Busan for the second time. In the film, 100-year-old Monroe tells the story of her life at an audition. Dakota Johnson plays Monroe in her prime, while Ellen Burstyn portrays her at 100. A Q&A session with director Gyllenhaal will also be held.
Last June, Genesis also held a special exhibition, 'Manifesting Marilyn,' marking the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's birth at Genesis House New York. Genesis said it had undertaken related activities because it saw parallels between Monroe's life—continuing to take on challenges despite difficult circumstances—and its own journey.
A Genesis representative said, "In this meaningful year marking 10 years of partnership with the Busan International Film Festival, Genesis is very pleased to present a work whose production it supported."
