President Lee: Government to support jeonse fraud victims’ swift return to normal life

[Financial News] President Lee said, regarding the Cabinet’s approval of an amendment to the enforcement decree to support victims of jeonse fraud, “The government will support housing stability and a swift recovery so that victims’ return to daily life is not delayed while they wait for procedures to take their course.”
President Lee posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) that day titled “We will help victims of jeonse fraud quickly return to normal life,” writing, “Today, the Cabinet approved an amendment to the enforcement decree to support victims of jeonse fraud.”
President Lee explained, “Starting November 13, if victims are unable to recover one-third of their deposit even after going through court auctions, public sales, etc., the shortfall will be compensated.”
He added, “Victims who have difficulty recovering their deposits through court auctions or public sales, including in trust fraud cases, will receive support in advance, before the procedures are completed.”
The amendment to the enforcement decree of the Special Act on Support for Victims of Jeonse Fraud and Housing Stability, approved at the Cabinet meeting that day, will take effect on November 13.
