[Financial News] The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) said on the 6th that it will open a Korea Pavilion featuring 14 companies at the International Agricultural Industry Expo, taking place in Chiba, Japan, from the 7th to the 9th of this month, to help domestic agricultural equipment companies develop export channels. About 850 companies and approximately 36,000 buyers and industry representatives will attend the expo.
This year, MAFRA has operated Korea Pavilions at agricultural expos in four countries: China, Vietnam, Australia and Japan. It has held export consultations between overseas buyers and domestic companies, resulting in 85 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) worth a total of $15.13 million (about 20.3 billion won) and six on-site contracts worth $320,000.
Participation in the expo has led to actual exports. An eco-friendly agricultural inputs company signed an MOU with an Indian buyer it had met at last year's pesticide and crop protection expo in Shanghai, China, and shipped its products in August this year. It is set to make additional exports worth $85,000 this month.
MAFRA plans to support agricultural equipment companies in developing overseas sales channels by operating a Korea Pavilion at the agricultural expo in Antalya, Türkiye, this November and holding export consultations in the second half of the year.
