\ \ [Financial News] A charity run will be held to mark the birthday of ATEEZ member Hongjoong, with fans and members of the public running 6 km in their everyday lives. This year, it will take place in South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.
World Vision, an international relief and development NGO, said on the 6th that the “Hongjoong 6K Virtual Run” will take place from Nov. 1 to 7. Participants can take part by running 6 km at a time and place of their choice and submitting proof of their run.
World Vision says the 6 km symbolizes the average distance children in developing countries walk each day to get water. The idea is to give participants an indirect sense of the effort involved in securing drinking water by having them run the same distance.
The event was organized to coincide with Hongjoong’s birthday on Nov. 7. The event began in 2024, making this its third edition, and participation has been expanded beyond its original fan-focused audience to include the general public. Applications will be accepted on the official Global 6K website from the 6th through the 16th of this month.
The entry fee is 11,700 won, a figure chosen to reflect Hongjoong’s birthday date, and the full amount will be donated to World Vision. Participants will receive a digital race bib featuring Hongjoong’s image, a digital photo card and a certificate of participation, among other items.
About 4,000 fans took part last year, and 60 million won in donations went to projects to provide drinking water for children in Africa and improve sanitation.
Hongjoong has supported children in Korea and abroad through World Vision since 2022, and was appointed a global ambassador for “Global 6K for Water” in March this year.
Hongjoong said, “I hope the spirit we share by running 6 km together reaches children who need clean water, and I hope many people will join in and enjoy themselves.”
