[Financial News] Hanyang University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation announced on the 6th that it will stage 12 original musicals developed with young creators at Seongsu Art Hall in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, from October 16 to 23.
The works being presented are the fruits of “Into the Creation 2026,” a program to nurture young creators that Hanyang University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation has run for about seven months after being selected as a platform institution for the Korea Creative Content Agency’s “2026 Content Creative Talent Partnership Project.”
This year, Hanyang University matched 11 industry professionals in musical playwriting and composition with 22 emerging creators on a one-to-one basis, providing intensive training and creative grants. The program resulted in 11 new original musicals.
The performances kick off on the 16th with “Wolves,” a showcase supporting outstanding projects by program alumni. Hanyang University provided focused support for the production costs of the work, as well as consultations with six experts in areas including stage direction, commercialization and networking.
From the 17th to the 23rd, 11 works developed by emerging creators will meet audiences in the form of staged readings and receive feedback. In a staged reading, actors use the script and music to coordinate their performances and blocking, presenting the work as if on a full stage. It is the first opportunity to unveil a work to industry professionals and audiences.
The lineup begins on opening day, the 17th, with “Blueprint of Sin,” followed in turn by “Over the Rainbow,” “Soreutilleju,” “Sold!,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Lip! Lip!,” “Blue Castle,” “THE ROVER (The Rover),” “Burning Moon,” “Pick Me, God!” and “Wolyeongru.”
Having led the program for eight consecutive years, Hanyang University plans to go beyond one-off performances by partnering with Seongdong Cultural Foundation and musical theater production companies, among others, and continuing expert consultations and networking after the performances. The aim is to help the next generation of creators achieve sustainable growth, including by advancing to full-scale productions in Daehangno.
