[Financial News] As the controversy over historical distortion surrounding the film ‘Assassin(s)’ continues, comments have been temporarily disabled on a YouTube video of ‘Jjanhanhyeong Shin Dong-yup’ featuring actor Lee Min-ho.

On the 14th of last month, the YouTube channel ‘Jjanhanhyeong Shin Dong-yup’ released a video titled ‘Lee Min-ho, Ryu Hye-young and Kim Dae-myung: Tofu-Faced Looks Are All the Rage These Days.’ As of the 6th, a notice reading ‘Comments are temporarily paused’ is displayed on the video, and viewers cannot post comments.
Before comments were disabled, a stream of comments criticizing the actors who appeared in the video was posted.
In the video, Lee Min-ho also explained why he decided to appear in ‘Assassin(s).’
Lee Min-ho chose ‘freedom and truth’ as the keywords that describe the work. He explained, “I’m someone who believes in the power of truth and sincerity, and I think those have to be the foundation, fundamentally,” adding, “This is a story about people who refuse to yield to their times and try, in line with their own convictions, somehow to follow that suspicious incident through to the end.”
He also explained why he decided to take the role of Han Young-il, whom he portrayed. Lee Min-ho said, “He’s a guy who already has a stable, secure life, but doesn’t feel that this is his path or that he’s alive in it,” adding, “I feel alive when I’m working as a journalist, and I really wanted to play this role because it captures Young-il at that point when he feels he has to see this through to the end.”
When Shin Dong-yup asked, “Are there journalists that handsome?”, Lee Min-ho replied, “He’s a rookie reporter who starts out with a bit of a hire-through-connections feel, so I thought he might not seem all that out of place.”
Meanwhile, as debate over ‘Assassin(s)’ continued, the cast’s scheduled appearances were canceled one after another. Lee Min-ho’s appearance at the Busan International Film Festival’s ‘Actors’ House’ was canceled, and the production company also canceled all of its official festival events, including the opening ceremony and outdoor stage greetings.
