[Financial News] MUSINSA is expanding exchange between the Korean and Japanese fashion markets through a collaboration with ZOZOTOWN, Japan's largest fashion platform.
MUSINSA said on the 6th that it will operate ZOZOTOWN's first pop-up in Korea, both online and offline, starting on the 16th. This marks the first time ZOZOTOWN has introduced Japanese fashion brands in Korea.
MUSINSA previously signed a memorandum of understanding with ZOZOTOWN in December 2024 to introduce K-fashion to Japan. The agreement was intended to support sales channels for K-fashion brands seeking to enter the Japanese market.
The pop-up expands the scope of the collaboration between MUSINSA and ZOZOTOWN. As the number of foreign tourists visiting Korea grows and interest in K-fashion increases, demand from Japanese brands seeking to enter the Korean market is also rising.
The offline pop-up, which will run through the end of this month at MUSINSA Store Seongsu in Seoul's Seongsu-dong, will feature 15 brands, including BEAUTY&YOUTH UNITED ARROWS, SNIDEL, Urban Research, and WYM by LIDNM. Online, the event will showcase the latest Tokyo trends through the 16th of next month.
MUSINSA is performing well in Japan. After establishing its Japanese subsidiary in 2021 and launching its overseas business, the company has expanded overseas sales, primarily through its global store. In July, the global store's transaction value reached the total recorded for all of last year, while transaction value grew by an average of 136% annually over the past three years. Japan accounts for the largest share of transaction value on the global store. MUSINSA's Japanese subsidiary also swung to a profit last year.
MUSINSA continues to expand its presence in Japan. It has served as the exclusive distributor for HAGO:HAUS's Matin Kim brand since November 2024 and plans to expand its portfolio by nurturing domestic designer brands. The company has shortened local delivery times and regularly holds long-term pop-ups. It joined ZOZOTOWN at the end of last year and plans to open a permanent MUSINSA store next year.
A MUSINSA spokesperson said, "This collaboration expands to Korea the partnership the two companies have built in Japan. Based on close collaboration with ZOZOTOWN, we plan to continue supporting K-fashion brands seeking to enter Japan and connecting customers with brands."
