[Financial News] Students from Pukyong National University have given an elementary school's exterior wall a fresh look after responding to a request from the local community for mural volunteer work.
According to Pukyong National University on the 6th, its PKNU Student Volunteer Corps and central student club Jeolyeonghoe carried out a mural-painting volunteer activity at Millak Elementary School in Suyeong District, Busan, on the 3rd.
The volunteer project was organized in response to a request from Millak Elementary School for mural work. After receiving the request through the education office and related organizations in July, Pukyong National University arranged collaboration between the Student Volunteer Corps and Jeolyeonghoe. The groups then conducted a site survey in August before carrying out the project.
About 50 people, including students from the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps and Jeolyeonghoe as well as faculty and staff, took part in the activity. They painted a mural on an aging wall along an approximately 20-meter section near the pedestrian overpass by Millak Elementary School's side gate.
Jeolyeonghoe handled the mural design, draft work, sketching, and painting. The PKNU Student Volunteer Corps prepared and repaired the wall, applied the base and initial coats, and helped with the painting.
Pukyong National University students have carried out mural volunteer activities on campus walls and in areas around Yeongdo District, Busan. Last year, they also visited Iun Village in Tongyeong to paint murals.
Park Seung-min, a student with the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps, said, "It was meaningful to be able to take part directly in activities for the local community. We will continue volunteering by going first to places that need help."
