South Chungcheong Province’s Germany Office said on the 6th that it participated in the Korea Story Festival, held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, on the 3rd (local time). The office supported the promotion and sales of cosmetics made by companies in the province and established a foothold for their entry into the European market.
Organized and hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Slovakia, the event was the first comprehensive Korean cultural festival held in Slovakia. Taking place in the central plaza of the Aupark shopping mall in downtown Bratislava, it introduced local residents and distribution industry representatives to a wide range of Korean cultural content, including K-beauty, K-food, hanbok experiences and film screenings.
At the event, South Chungcheong Province intensively promoted and sold 21 products from five major cosmetics companies based in the province, including Lapass, CS Company, AR Company, JUNG COSMETIC and Coreana Cosmetics.
On-site sales alone generated €4,000, or approximately 6 million won. Separately, the province arranged one-on-one connections with local cosmetics distribution buyers, building a network that could lead to additional deals in the future.
A South Chungcheong Province official said, "We will actively leverage the European network of the Germany Office and cooperation with relevant organizations to provide multifaceted support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the province, from marketing and buyer identification to developing sales channels." The official added, "We will continue expanding customized overseas marketing to strengthen the global competitiveness of local companies."
The entry into Slovakia is viewed as significant because it diversifies the K-beauty marketing focus, which had previously centered on Western Europe, toward Eastern European markets with strong growth potential. Eastern European countries, including Slovakia, have recently seen growing interest in K-beauty products because of the popularity of Korean content and the products’ affordable prices and skincare functionality, making the region a new land of opportunity for small and medium-sized South Korean cosmetics brands.
