Gangwon State’s October Travel Pick: "ITS World Congress"—See Future Transportation Technology and Explore Gangneung

【Financial News, Gangneung—Kim Gi-seop, reporter】Gangneung, where visitors can enjoy cutting-edge technology demonstrations, an ice show and a drone show at an international transportation event attended by about 90 countries, has been selected as Gangwon State’s recommended destination for October.
According to Gangwon State and the Gangwon Tourism Organization on the 6th, the two organizations designated the "2026 Gangneung ITS World Congress" as October’s "Special Recommended Destination of the Month" and introduced travel content combining attendance at the international event with tourism in Gangneung.
The 32nd ITS World Congress will be held from the 19th to the 23rd in and around Gangneung Olympic Park. Considered the world’s largest international event in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), it will feature academic conferences and an international exhibition, along with programs that allow visitors to see demonstrations of and tour cutting-edge transportation technologies firsthand. Cultural and ancillary events, including an ice show and a drone show, will also be held during the event, allowing ordinary visitors to enjoy attractions at the international gathering.
Gangneung, the host city, has also completed preparations to welcome visitors. Gangneung City opened the Gangneung Convention Center in August, with a total floor area of 18,967 square meters, to strengthen the infrastructure for hosting the congress. The Gangneung Coffee Festival will also be held during the same period, allowing visitors to enjoy both the international event and a local festival in one trip.
Meanwhile, the Gangwon Tourism Organization will set up a joint promotional booth with related organizations at the event venue during the congress and deploy a mobile promotional vehicle for the Year of Visiting Gangwon, holding various events for visitors.
